Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Monday higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 301.47 to 302.36 points, a gain of 0.30 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.35 percent at 304.37 points against 303.31 points previously.
The equity market capitalization added XOF 26 billion (about US$45 million) to close at XOF 7,511 billion relative to the previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,485 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 68,991 traded stocks relative to 1,133,219 recorded at the previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,752.822 million (against XOF 1,186.510 million recorded at the previous trading session) exchanged in 29 traded securities via 259 deals.
Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 31,000 traded securities (accounted for about 44.93 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 439.662 million contributing nearly 25.10 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 14.63 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.58.
From the market price movers’ perspectives, out of the 29 traded securities today, 12 stocks experienced price gains, 10 witnessed price drops and 7 stocks price remained unchanged relative to the previous closing price. On the price upward zone, VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainers by gaining 3.45 percent to end at XOF 75,000. BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE soared by 3.23 percent at XOF 225,050 and BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 128,000 after jumping by 2.40 percent. TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE share price accelerated by 2.13 percent to close at XOF 24,000 and ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with a closing price of XOF 53 by gaining1.93 percent.
In the downward district, AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE skid by 3.48 percent to settle at XOF 19,400 as the biggest loser and PALM COTE D’IVOIRE slacked by 3.41 percent to close at XOF 14,000. CIE COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 1.73 percent to close at XOF 85,000. UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 1.73 percent to settle at XOF 28,105 and ONATEL BURKINA FASO slumped by 1.14 percent to trade at XOF 13,000.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index fell by 0.36 percent at 162.76 points and public utilities sector index declined by 0.30 percent to end at 831.55 points. Financial services sector index grew by 1.13 percent to end at 110.56 points and distribution sector index added 1.49 percent to end at 592.28 points. The agriculture sector index fell by 1.47 percent to close at 189.80 points. The transportation sector index rose by 3.19 percent to settle at 1,089.74 points and miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 638.27 points.
